Throughout all of John Champe DECA's accounts, engagement has skyrocketed. From July to August of 2025, our Instagram reels and post views increased 1222%, and our opinions from non-followers increased 1119%. But the biggest question is, how do we continue to increase our presence on social media?
Here are the biggest tips and tricks from what I've learned as John Champe DECA's Vice President of Marketing:
1. Post Consistently
Keeping your online audience consistently interested in your content is key to increasing engagement. Individuals want to see new content daily that builds excitement around your account. Set a posting goal for each week to stay consistent (ex., 2 TikToks, 3-4 posts, and 1 YouTube video a week).
2. Cater Content
Students expect short, engaging content on TikTok, whereas students expect to find longer videos on YouTube. Platforms such as TikTok and Instagram tend to promote videos. Ensure that it remains fun and high-energy to get your viewers excited, while still maintaining the level of professionalism expected within your brand.
3. Prioritize High-Quality Content
Using high-resolution photos and clear graphics can instantly boost engagement by catching attention and encouraging interactions such as likes, shares and comments. Better visuals foster brand trust, as viewers can expect consistent, high-quality content that is visually appealing.
4. Utilise Trends
Whether it is a funny dancing video or a new meme, individuals on social media love to see different versions of trends. As for your media engagement, trading audios and memes can give you a significant platform boost.
5. Post Members
Posting people gives a more personal feel; faces land better on feeds rather than just photos with information. Including people talking or moving keeps the audience engaged in the content.
Social media is a vital part of how everyone interacts, so make sure to use your platform to send out the important messages you want your audience to see. While professionalism is a significant part of every brand, social media is a way to express and have fun with one another.
Ultimately, boosting engagement doesn't rely on just one trick; it's about consistently creating content that people want to interact with. Building a genuine connection with your audience is what can significantly expand your social media platforms.
