Congratulations on being elected as your chapter's president! As you start your term, here is a roadmap to keep to help guide you to success.
Choose Your Character
Set your year off right by getting to know your officer team and their goals for the year. Make sure everyone knows their role and what is expected of them. Start a group chat with the whole team and make sure all officers have access to the entire team's emails. Focus on connecting with every person on your team so that you can help your chapter Experience the Difference. Here you can find some icebreaker questions to better get to know your team.
Equip Yourself with the Right Tools
Make sure you have the right tools and technology in place to start your year. Creating a Google Drive, Slack, or Microsoft Teams is the best way to share resources easily with your whole team. If you have an Instagram login, make sure you know the password and are ready to start the year by having content pre-made. Chart Your Course
Plan your year and your goals by talking with your officer team. Make sure every person has an accomplishable goal. Create a Program of Leadership that has Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound (SMART) goals. These goals should be your reference during the year.
Start with a Bang
Start the year ready to take action because of your pre-made roadmap. Make sure you are prepared to begin membership recruitment at the beginning of the year by attending your school's freshman orientation and club fair. Encourage students to join DECA by highlighting the opportunities for competition, resume building, and travel!
