On September 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend the Georgia DECA WorkWinWow Officer Training Conference, where I participated in career-building activities, networked with different chapter officers from across Georgia and even presented a roundtable. Today, I'm here to tell you several ways to advocate and Be The One with DECA this year.

1. Collaborate with Local Chapters

Collaborating with other local chapters can lead to many great things in and outside of DECA. You can collaborate on a school or community event, plan a social event for different chapters to get to know each other outside of their DECA lives, or even get together to share competition advice.

2. Connecting with your Community

Have your DECA members be involved and social within your community by volunteering for a community event like a parade or farmers market, or have them plan a community service initiative for the community, or even host a leadership workshop that positively impacts the lives of those around.

3. Mentorship

As a new DECA year starts and 1st-year and first-year student DECA members are nervous about how they can make a difference with their chapter, it's always nice to offer a helping hand to new members. Have your senior or returning DECA members mentor a different group of new members to energize them about how they can contribute to their chapter this year.
