Be The One to Run for Collegiate DECA Executive Office

Dec 1, 2024

As our division’s primary brand ambassadors, Collegiate DECA Executive Officers represent our student members to a variety of key stakeholders, including fellow members, advisors, education administrators, business partners, public policymakers and more. They are also responsible for developing a program of leadership to assist in implementing DECA Inc.’s strategic plan.

Length of Term

Your term as a Collegiate DECA Executive Officer will begin at the closing ceremony of Collegiate DECA ICDC in San Francisco, CA. You will serve throughout the 2025-2026 membership year and wrap up your work in Louisville, Kentucky, during ICDC 2026! Don’t let the dates fool you- your time as an officer goes extraordinarily fast. With so much to accomplish in the short term, it’s important to have good time management and know how to prioritize your goals and assignments during your term.

Program of Leadership

Your POL will become your team’s best friend as you navigate the life of being an Executive Officer. Think of it as your “blueprint for success.” You’ve most likely created a POL at some point in your life - whether that was creating goals for a class and then deciding how you would accomplish them or creating a guideline for how your chapter/association teams will operate. However, this POL is your gateway to connecting the entire division! Your team has a say in what you do over the year, what you want to accomplish and how you will help our division grow and thrive for years.

The Process

Your journey begins with requesting the executive officer candidate guide. Throughout this comprehensive packet, you will learn about the details and processes you will walk through to run for office. It may seem like a lot initially, but divide it over the semester, and you can digest everything it offers. Take note of important deadlines, emails and communication channels you should watch, and study materials for the exam you will take.

The Executive Officer Experience

It doesn’t take more than a few days in the role to realize that being an executive officer is a life-changing experience. Even before I stepped off the stage at the end of CDECA ICDC, I knew it would be something to remember for a lifetime. You will experience conferences like no other, meet people, network with individuals who will be lifelong friends, and learn and grow to be a better professional, student, and, most importantly, a better person.

As the current executive officer team continues to accomplish more from our program of leadership and our terms slowly come to an end, we look forward to seeing who will Be the One to run for executive office this year. If you have any questions, please reach out to our team!
