Bouncing Back from Burnout

Nov 1, 2024

It’s that time of year again—midterms are upon us, and schoolwork is heavy as we approach the holiday breaks. If this sounds familiar, you might be experiencing burnout. But don’t worry! Here’s your guide to bouncing back with the 3 S’s.

1. Set Boundaries

Learning to say “no” and prioritize yourself is crucial. It can feel daunting but remember: you can’t pour from an empty cup. Make sure to fill yourself up before helping others. Recognize when you’re overworked and take steps to lighten your load. Schedule alone time for self-care, whether it’s relaxation or pursuing a hobby. Balance your work hours with dedicated time for YOU.

2. Synergize with Yourself

Reconnect with what brings you joy. If you don’t already have a hobby or a way to release stress, now’s the time to find it. Engaging in activities that fulfill you can reignite your motivation. Nature is a powerful healer—spending time outside can refresh your mind with the sounds and scents of the outdoors. Consider trying meditation or mindfulness techniques; there are excellent resources on YouTube, including calming yoga videos that can help center you.

3. Seek Support

Talking about what’s on your mind can work wonders. Reach out to friends, family, a trusted adult or a professional. Sharing your feelings can provide relief and offer new perspectives on your situation.

You’re not alone in feeling this way—winter is a prime time for burnout. Implementing these small strategies can make a big difference in your journey to bounce back!
