Every day, business teachers across the country work tirelessly to shape the next generation of leaders. National Teach Business Day is a reminder to celebrate the educators who dedicate their time, passion and energy to teaching us the skills we’ll carry into the future.
At Burlington High School, we are fortunate to have incredible DECA advisors and business teachers who inspire students daily and have helped build one of the top chapters in Massachusetts, winning the DECA Spirit Award this past year. I had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Danielle Trouve, one of our advisors, to learn about her passion for teaching business.
Mrs. Trouve's own DECA journey began in high school, where she qualified for ICDC during her very first year competing. Inspired by that experience, she went on to study marketing in college to become a business educator and DECA advisor. Today, she teaches a wide variety of business subjects and describes her work as “different every day, and so fun”.
Her favorite part about teaching business is how relevant and applicable it is to every student. Mrs. Trouve uses innovative teaching methods in the classroom to help her students understand concepts. She especially loves watching her students grow as leaders, earn awards and take on new opportunities through DECA.
One student shared, “She was the main reason I joined DECA. She has been there for me and supported me every step of the way, and so I am thankful for that.”
This National Teach Business Day, we celebrate Mrs. Trouve and all business educators who empower students to Go The Extra both inside and outside the classroom. DECA thrives because of our advisors, so take a moment today to thank your business teacher or advisor. They are the reason we get to lead, learn and succeed.
