As the Holiday Season is swiftly approaching, many of us are experiencing the “mid-year slump”. When mid-term exams are mixed with the slump, it tends to create problems regarding productivity and motivation, while also experiencing burnout. Here are five easy ways to survive the mid-term season that you can incorporate TODAY!
1) Managing your Schedule Effectively
We are always on the go, but during final test season, it seems to get even busier. Make sure that you are setting aside enough time to study, while still fulfilling all your other obligations. With the time set aside, try breaking it up into various time intervals, while also incorporating breaks into that time.
2) Limit Distractions while Studying
There have been so many times when I have sat down to study, and I get distracted by someone texting me, getting an email or having the TV on. The easiest way to limit these distractions is just to stop the distraction itself. You can limit these distractions by turning off the TV, closing unnecessary tabs and turning your phone to Do Not Disturb.
3) Get Enough Sleep
While studying is normally done at the end of the day, sacrificing sleep can be detrimental to your stress and your mood during finals week. While we think staying up late to study will be great, getting enough sleep during test season is much more important. Sleeping will keep your stress levels down and will have you feeling refreshed for finals!
4) Set your schedules
Final test schedules are normally different from your regular class times. Make sure you update your schedule accordingly, so you don’t accidentally miss a final. This way, you can prioritize what finals to study for first, and furthermore, Get the Edge with your semester exams!
5) Treat Yourself
Studying can consume a lot of time and energy. Make sure you are setting time aside for yourself! Whether it be doing a face mask, buying a coffee before an exam or treating yourself to dinner after the finals season, make sure that you are setting time aside for yourself, and not forgetting all of the hard work that you have been doing!
