The Next Big Month: Preparing Your Chapter For DECA Month

Oct 18, 2026

Every year, DECA hosts an entire month of community collaboration with certain social media prompts that prompts chapters to follow them and create unique and fun ideas. Participating in these DECA Month challenges can earn the chapter recognition on DECA’s social media pages and increase engagement within the DECA community.

Each day, there will be a different prompt for you to fill out, drawn from the DECA brand toolkit, to give you a full calendar rundown of these topics. You will select the prompt for the day and create a piece of content and tag DECA for a chance to receive a repost or recognition from DECA’s national account.

Here are some great ways to prepare for this month!

Communicate With Your Media Officer

Working on these social media challenges is a great way to incorporate your social media officers' work program and get them to design and develop new content. Giving them insights and practice on engaging media, development, and what makes a post relatable and great for content, while being selected, gives them satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment.

For example, at Algonquin Regional High School, star student Michelle Liu offered insights into how social media officers can be assigned daily content through a content spreadsheet. This not only gives officers work to accomplish but also delivers high return metrics to the team. Liu amassed over 4,000 likes and 10,000 impressions on their posts through her wonderful use of statistics and social media analytics.

Creativity

Using DECA Month as a means of team development and idea generation allows other events during the international year to flow smoothly. Having a system oriented so all officers have a say in the development of these posts directly translates to other organizational events and logistics within your chapter.

Having this sense of creativity proves how you stand out and become the Next Big Thing, and is a wonderful way to engage with the DECA community on an international level.
