The spooky season is here, and it’s the perfect time to host a DECAween social event that your chapter will never forget! From themed games to creative snacks, here are some tricks (and treats) to make your event a scream.
Set the Scene Early
Give your members something to look forward to by announcing your DECAween social ahead of time. Create themed graphics for your chapter’s social media and use countdowns or teaser posts to build excitement. Think of it not just as throwing a party, but promoting an experience!
Pro tip: Encourage members to come dressed in costume and tie it to a theme! Try career-cluster costumes, “Dress for Success (with a spooky twist),” dynamic duos or DECA-inspired looks like Marketing Mummies or Finance Phantoms.
Plan Spook-tacular Activities
Interactive activities help everyone feel included. Mix in DECA-themed challenges like a Mystery Marketing Pitch or Trick or Treat Trivia about DECA facts and events. These moments help members connect while reinforcing unity, teamwork and creativity the DECA way.
Create Treat Tables Over Trick Tables
Snacks make every social better. Set up a treat bar with candy, popcorn and caramel apples. Add clever DECA puns to each station, like Poppin Off with DECA Spirit or Return on InvestMINTs. If your chapter’s budget allows, add themed drinks, catering from DECA partners or a custom dessert station. Minor upgrades make your event feel even more special.
Capture the Frightful Fun
A great social event does not end when the night is over. It lives on through photos and memories. Set up a themed photo area with your chapter banner, props or a Halloween backdrop. After the event, post a highlight reel or recap to showcase your chapter’s engagement. This will not only boost visibility but also show prospective members what makes your DECA chapter so special.
Feature a “Spook-tacular Spotlight”
Recognize standout members or officers who have gone the extra this month. Create a Haunted Hall of Fame to highlight their efforts. Recognition adds meaning and shows appreciation for the hard work that makes your chapter thrive.
