Wayne State University is thrilled to announce the launch of its inaugural DECA chapter, marking an exciting opportunity for students to engage in personal growth, professional networking and hands-on business experience.

Founded at the end of her freshman year by sophomore Sophie Meyer, Wayne State DECA is dedicated to fostering a community that prepares the next generation of business leaders and innovators. The chapter is poised to make a significant impact with the support of a passionate executive board, including junior Asha Patel as Vice President, sophomore Selena Younis as Secretary, and sophomore Jessica Gutierrez as Marketing chair.

A Year of Opportunities

Wayne State DECA is committed to providing members with valuable resources and experiences throughout the year. The chapter hosts workshops, networking events and training sessions to enhance professional skills and knowledge. Members are excited to participate in competitions and apply their classroom learning to real-world business challenges.

Additionally, the chapter prioritizes professional development through guest speaker events and connecting students with industry leaders to help them build their resumes and expand their professional networks.

A Journey of Leadership

“Starting Wayne State DECA is an incredible experience. It’s rewarding to bring an organization I have loved for years to the university I love. DECA is where students can develop their skills, connect with peers and professionals, and prepare for their futures.” - Sophie Meyer

Faculty and the wider community support proves instrumental in making this chapter a reality. As Wayne State DECA embarks on this new adventure, the executive board is excited to see how the chapter grows and evolves, leaving a lasting impact on campus and beyond.

We look forward to sharing our experiences and successes as we build a strong foundation for Wayne State DECA!
